Connecting Slack to KlaritiQ

KlaritiQ Team·October 2026·5 min read

Slack is where your team already works, so KlaritiQ can meet them there. Each person gets their own tasks and sign-off requests as a direct message, urgent items reach one channel you choose, and every message links straight back to the right place in KlaritiQ.

One thing stays exactly as it is: sign-offs are made in KlaritiQ. A sign-off means reviewing the current AI system version and citing evidence, and a button in a chat message cannot show you either. Slack tells you a sign-off is waiting and takes you to it.

Before you start

  • To connect Slack for your organization you need to be an owner or admin of your KlaritiQ organization, and able to add apps to your Slack workspace.
  • A Slack workspace can be connected to one KlaritiQ organization.
  • Every other person links their own Slack account afterwards. Nobody has to be an admin to do that.

Step 1: Add KlaritiQ to Slack (an owner or admin)

Go to Integrations in the admin menu. Under Workspace connections find Slack and choose Show details, then Add to Slack. Slack shows you its own screen. Pick your workspace and approve. KlaritiQ asks to post messages, to see the list of channels, to offer the /klaritiq command, and to read a person's name so a saved note can say who wrote it. It does not read what people write in Slack. The only message it ever receives is one a person deliberately saves with the shortcut described below.

If you connected Slack before the /klaritiq command and the Save to KlaritiQ shortcut were added, choose Reconnect on the Slack card once, so Slack grants the new permission.

If the card says Not enabled, Slack has not been switched on for your KlaritiQ workspace yet. Contact support and we will switch it on.

Step 2: Choose a channel for urgent alerts

Back in KlaritiQ, choose Choose a channel and pick one. Then decide what goes there:

  • Incidents and regulatory deadlines: a compliance flag firing, or a statutory deadline.
  • Risks reopened or left open too long
  • Sign-offs waiting too long

Choose Send a test message to see it arrive. Until you choose a channel, nothing organization-wide is posted.

Two protections apply. KlaritiQ will not post to a channel that is shared with another organization, so people outside your company can never read an alert. And for a private channel, you first add the KlaritiQ app to it in Slack, because KlaritiQ cannot join a private channel on its own.

Step 3: Decide how much a message says

  • Title only is the default: what happened, with a link back to KlaritiQ.
  • Title and a short reason adds a line of context. The reason can include a colleague's email address, for example who asked for a sign-off.

Evidence text and AI-written text are never sent to Slack, whichever you choose.

Each person opens Integrations, finds Slack (you), and chooses Link my Slack account. They sign in with Slack once. This is how KlaritiQ knows which Slack account is really which person, so KlaritiQ receives only their Slack user ID and workspace, nothing else about them. An email address in Slack is not used, because the Slack workspace admin controls it.

After that:

  • Alerts about their own work arrive as a direct message: tasks assigned or overdue, sign-off requests, and the other alerts KlaritiQ raises about them. The daily brief is not sent to Slack. They can turn this off on the same card.
  • The Home tab of the KlaritiQ app in Slack shows what is on their plate: their open tasks with due dates, and any sign-off waiting for them.

What you can do from a message

On a task alert, choose I'm on it to mark your task in progress. It runs as you, with the same rules as the website: only the task's owner or an admin can do it, only for a task that has not been started, and a read-only seat cannot. No other button changes a task. You cannot complete a task, sign off or resolve a risk from Slack, because those need evidence and review.

Ask KlaritiQ with /klaritiq

Anyone who has linked their Slack account can type /klaritiq in any Slack message box, followed by one of these words:

  • /klaritiq tasks: your open tasks, with due dates, each linking to the task.
  • /klaritiq signoffs: sign-offs waiting for you. You still make the sign-off in KlaritiQ.
  • /klaritiq risks: open or mitigated risks you own. A risk is still resolved in KlaritiQ, by an admin.
  • /klaritiq deadlines: what is overdue or due in the next two weeks.
  • /klaritiq help: this list.

The answer is shown only to you, never to the channel, and it only shows what you can already see in KlaritiQ, under the same department limits. Someone who has not linked their Slack account is told how to. If a list could not be fully checked, the answer says so rather than claiming there is nothing.

Save a Slack message as evidence

An owner or admin can keep an important message, for example a vendor confirming something in a thread, in the Evidence Locker. Hover over the message and choose the three dots (More actions). Pick Save to KlaritiQ, which Slack lists there or under More message shortcuts.

A small form opens. Choose the initiative the message supports (or "Not sure yet" to link it later in KlaritiQ) and write one sentence on what it shows, for example "the vendor confirmed the audit was completed". Then choose Save note.

  • It works only for owners and admins who have linked their Slack account, the same people who can upload evidence on the website.
  • The note records the message text as it was when saved, who wrote it (their name), which channel, when it was sent, a link back to the original message where Slack allows one, the initiative it supports, and your sentence. An auditor can read it without opening Slack: choose Details on the note in the Evidence Locker to see the full message, your sentence, who wrote it and the link.
  • It is saved as a note by you. It is not verified: open it in KlaritiQ to check it and, if needed, link it to a control.
  • A message saved twice is kept once, even if two people save it at the same moment. Files on the message are not copied: upload those in the Evidence Locker.
  • Very long messages: KlaritiQ can keep up to the first 2000 characters (a little fewer when a message has many line breaks or quotes). The form tells you when a message is longer, and the note says it was shortened and links to the original.
  • If Slack shows "KlaritiQ is still saving", check the Evidence Locker before trying again.
  • KlaritiQ receives only the message you choose. It does not read the rest of the channel.
  • If you connected Slack before names were added, choose Reconnect once. Until then the note shows the Slack user ID instead of a name.

What Slack is told

A title and a link back, and if you chose it a short reason. Never evidence text, never AI-written text. A person's own items go only to that person. KlaritiQ does not read messages in your workspace. The only message it receives is one you choose to save with the shortcut, and a command you type, which is answered only to you.

Changing or stopping it

  • Stop one person: they choose Unlink my Slack on their card, or turn off direct messages.
  • Stop the channel: choose Stop posting to it.
  • Disconnect: choose Disconnect on the Slack card. KlaritiQ stops sending, asks Slack to drop its access and deletes the connection and every person's link. Nothing is deleted in Slack or in KlaritiQ.
  • If someone removes the KlaritiQ app from Slack, KlaritiQ disconnects at once and deletes its token.

If something looks wrong

  • Reconnect needed: Slack access was withdrawn or the workspace changed. An admin chooses Reconnect on the Slack card.
  • That channel is shared with another organization: choose an internal channel instead.
  • A person is not getting messages: they need to have linked their Slack account, and direct messages must be on, on their Slack (you) card.
  • That Slack account is linked to someone else: each Slack account can be linked to one KlaritiQ person.
